Former Ukrainian MP Andriy Portnov / Day was shot in Spain

Police received a call that in Pocuelo de Alarcon, near Madrid, several people shot a man on his back and in his head as he was about to sit in the car. The source of the police confirmed that the victim was Portnov.

The shooters escaped the murder site. The source at the police revealed that the incident happened at the American Private School.

Portnov was a deputy in the Ukrainian parliament from 2006 to 2010 and then became deputy head of the Yanukovych administration.

Yanukovych was the President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. In the climax of Maidan’s protest movement, he fled to Russia. Portnov then left Ukraine and lived in Russia and Austria. He returned to Ukraine when Volodimir Zelensky was elected president.

In 2021, the United States imposed sanctions on corruption for him, stating that he had used his influence on the judiciary and law enforcement agencies to buy access to Ukrainian courts and undermine reform efforts. According to the media, he used his contacts to escape Ukraine again in 2022, despite the ban on the country exposed to the military service during the Russian invasion.
