Former SRF boss criticizes the dismantling of « faces and stories »
Previous boss of Swiss television criticizes the dismantling of « faces and stories »
The end of «G&G» causes unrest at SRF. A podcast of two moderators over the end reaches a large audience.
It does not often happen that a former director of Swiss television criticizes her successor. Ingrid Deltenre is doing this now. She expresses her lack of understanding about the removal of the social magazine « Faces and Stories ».
Delten was a SRF director from 2004 to 2009. She emphasizes that « G&G » offers a platform that does not exist in other SRF programs. « The show does a real service public, » says Deltenre.
SRF had to save and want to concentrate on programs in prime time. In principle, this is not wrong, explains the former television boss. «However, ‹G&G› is a relatively cheap daily program that fulfills an important program order from SRF. Therefore, the question arises whether there would be other and better and much larger savings levers. » The production of the program costs CHF 2 million annually; The SRF budget is around 600 million.
Trouble among Swiss cultural workers
The criticism of Nathalie Wappler can be read in a book that was presented in Zurich on Monday evening. « Glanz & Gloria » – according to the original name of the previous evening – the journalist Thomas Renggli was almost completed when Wappler announced on February 5: « G&G » was only in the program until the end of June. So individual chapters were revised.
At the book presentation, Rolf Knie put the prevailing opinion of those present to the point: « The SRG has not yet realized what nonsense it did with the removal. »
On the one hand, the Swiss Cervelat Prominence loses its grill. The editors of “faces and stories” also visited the premieres of cabaret artists, concerts by singers, artificial vernissages.
Swiss cultural workers are accordingly applied to the end of «G&G.» They point out that their industry in 2018 against the no-Billag template has raised an effective campaign. A comparable commitment should not be expected when it comes to warding off the halving initiative in the coming year. The disappointment about the SRG is too great.
When SRF boss Wappler decided to stop « G&G », she would have done it better with immediate effect. The members of the editorial team describe themselves as a conspiratorial team. The journalists do not practice open rebellion, but they don’t keep them behind the mountain.
Moderators of the magazine are no longer in demand
Jennifer Bosshard and Michel Birri have launched a podcast that is about the end of the show. “B&B puts off” is a huge interest-the talk show of the two moderators achieves top positions in the Apple charts.
Ten episodes are planned. The two speak of « self -therapy ». But it’s not just about processing the shock, Bosshard also thinks a plea for the continued existence of the SRG.
Jennifer Bosshard, moderator of « Faces & Stories » – until July.
Will the figurehead of «G&G» continue to work for the publicly financed broadcasting radio? « I can’t say anything about that yet, » she explains.
Apparently, no one has received a good offer from the four -member moderation team for further commitment in front of the camera. Many cannot understand that on the Leutschenbach. Bosshard is now one of the most famous SRF faces; Your moderation talent is undisputed.
Part of the editorial team may remain and will provide other programs with social contributions in the future. However, there are doubts as to whether this will work. « SRF obviously does not want to be easier in the information-although they ideally fit the medium of television, » says a TV editor.
The book on “Faces & Stories” was planned for the anniversary of the 20th anniversary. Now it’s a book about a farewell. Paola Felix writes in the foreword: « With the pulling of the ‹G & g› plug, part of our cultural diversity remains on the track. »
