Former South Korean President Jun accused of abuse of office
The South Korean prosecutor’s office today announced that the former president Jun juice jola accused of abuse of office, reports French news agency AFP. It is a new indictment against Jeo, who was dismissed for the declaration of war in the country last December.
A special investigative group conducted an additional investigation into charges of misuse of powers in connection with Jun’s proclamation of war 3 last December, which led to a new indictment, prosecutors wrote in a statement. As reported, the prosecution does not require detention as a former president.
Due to the declaration of the war against June, criminal proceedings are already underway. He was accused of conspiracy in early January and defends himself with liberty. He was detained in mid -January after avoiding hearings regarding the declaration of war, but in March, the Constitutional Court eliminated his detention in March.
Jun triggered a political crisis in the country when he unexpectedly declared a war situation last December, which was abolished within a few hours by Parliament. MEPs then voted his dismissal, which was unanimously confirmed by the South Korean Constitutional Court in April. A long wait for the Constitutional Court’s decision has strengthened the country’s tensions and support for the far right June.
Following the decision of the Constitutional Court, the government has announced early elections on Juna’s dismissal, which will take place in early June.
