Foreign Minister Meinl-Reisinger in « ZiB 2 »-Diepresse.com

Are the attacks on Iran « clearly violating international law »? Moderator Armin Wolf and Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger were different.

Foreign Minister Beate Meinl-Reisinger (NEOS) came to « ZIB 2 » in two-way function on Tuesday evening, and the interview that Armin Wolf led with her was also divided into two. On the one hand, it was about the foreign policy causa great these days, the war between Israel and Iran. And on the other hand, the very peaceful government work, i.e. not only in this comparison, for her point of view as a party leader in the triple coalition.

« I would say it likes knife cutting edge, » said Meinl-Reisinger the question that is currently so pressing: whether the USA now also attack Iran. The minister did what (almost) all of her colleagues do in Europe: advocate de-escalation, for a diplomatic solution, a new nuclear agreement: « I hope that everyone will come to reason ». Europe is also interested in the fact that Iran has no atomic bomb. Can, should, does it have to criticize or condemn Israel for the attack? This topic was tailored when Wolf asked: « The Israeli attacks on Iran have demanded hundreds of deaths so far, even among civilians, and they are clearly contrary to international law. Why is there no official protest from the West? »

The fact that Meinl-Reisinger saw the « legally not as clear » as the interviewer almost led to a dispute. « Why is it not so clear, » said Wolf, and interrupted her, « that’s completely clear! ». Not as clear as in the case of Russia and Ukraine, she said what she wanted to connect to her sentence before. Israel deals with the country’s right to exist – Iran would deny him that. However, international law is « totally clear, » said Wolf, « a war of aggression is not allowed. » A preventive war was only allowed in an immediate attack, but it did not exist. Uranic enrichment is not an attack.

« You are also welcome to invite a international lawyer »

Completely clear, Meinl-Reisinger could not make her point of view here, ended the matter with one: « I am convinced that both sides break international law ». Your job is to say that the way out is a diplomatic one. Wolf can also invite a international lawyer to the question. He will probably also how you know him.

The domestic answers that followed. From the question of climate-damaging subsidies such as commuters and diesel privilege (« there are compromises in a coalition ») about the tightening of the weapons right after the guns of Graz (« The schools must be a place of security ») and a minimum age for social media (« We have to talk about it »), Mein-Reisinger replied with excessive-all-leaning monsters. With self -employment, of course. After all, she had come to the interview in two things.
