For three persons, nine to ten years of prison / day are sentenced to three persons in Koknese Cocaine

As LETA informed ELT, three persons organized in a group were unauthorized, kept and carried 2197 kilograms of white powdered substances containing 1758 kilograms of drugs – cocaine.

One person has been sentenced to ten years' imprisonment and probation supervision for three years. In turn, two more people have been sentenced to nine years 'imprisonment and three years' probation monitoring. All persons have been credited to all persons in detention and the time spent in custody.

One accused, on the other hand, has been recognized as innocent and justified against him on a large -scale money laundering of crime obtained from an unidentified criminal offense. The court did not find a criminal offense in this part of the indictment.

However, the court ruled that the accused's real estate and the vehicle he used, whose value did not correspond to the legal income of approximately, would have a special confiscation of property, as this property was recognized as criminal.

The accused were involved in an international organized group with other persons against which the criminal proceedings were distributed in a separate process.

In the organized group, each played a role in the purpose of unauthorized purchase, transport, storage and realization of a very dangerous drug – cocaine – especially large -scale, transferring cocaine hidden in banana transport boxes to hangar in Koknese parish and unloading there, placing, placing, placing.

Within ten days, the parties may submit a request for full judgment.

As written, on January 8, 2019, a cargo with 42 cardboard boxes were sent in a private house in Koknese County. The boxes had 2195 cocaine briquettes with a variety of logo – « TNT », « Badboys », « Gold » and with a dolphin image.

The seized drug was transferred to an examination, during which the proportion of cocaine is approximately 80%in the mixture, which means that it is of very high quality.

During the investigation, it was found that the cargo of cocaine was not intended for the Latvian market, but Latvia was used as a transit country to transport the cargo to other countries.

The Chief of the Criminal Police, Andrei Grishin, previously informed that the value of the cargo could be around € 65 million. Propagating cocaine in retail trade increases the price several times, so the price of such cargo could « approach billion » in retail trade.

A statement released on the Ecuadorian police website states that almost two tons of cocaine in Europe had been introduced into the ship's container, which included foods in the vessel.
