For the transport of illegal migrants with the Interior Service’s car imitations, two to four -year prison / day is sentenced
The State Border Guard informed LETA that a court ruling came into force, which for the illegal transfer of persons across the state border, using vehicles with the color of the State Police and the State Border Guard and duplicate vehicle license plates, with a real custodial imprisonment of four persons.
The accused, depending on the involvement of the violation, sentenced to two years of imprisonment and two months to four years and two months.
Similarly, persons are sentenced to expulsion from Latvia by banning the entry into the country for four to six years. All persons have been confiscated by mobile phones and the value of vehicles was recovered, which in two cases is EUR 6,833 and in two more cases – EUR 30,380.
It has already been reported that on the night of November 1, 2024, a minibus was suspended in Šķeuna parish of Kraslava district with a fake stencil of the State Border Guard, which attempted to move 25 illegal immigrants.
On October 8, 2024, the Border Guard noticed and detained dozens of illegal migrants from Belarus and their carriers after prolonged chasing and shooting. At that time, migrants used a minibus with fake State Police stencils and beacons, as well as a fake country license plate that the real police car had.
