For the freedom of Ukraine – in the hands of hands

Before the event began, small flags were distributed to the arrivals, on one side of Lithuania and on the other – Ukrainian flag colors.

A lot of people came ready for the campaign – they brought the flags of both our country and Ukraine, and some girls had their heads with multicolored flower wreaths.

The event began with a greeting word, which was said by Jelena Butkevičienė, Director of Klaipėda National Culture Center.

« We gathered for a campaign called » hand -to -Ukraine.  » In 1989, three Baltic countries-Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia-clashed their hands for freedom. We also gathered in the Theater Square to support Ukraine, its people, its freedom. Only a free person is happy and can create and live, ”emphasized J. Butkevičienė.

Oleg Podolski, a spokesman for the Klaipėda Ukrainian Culture and Education Center Rodyna, reminded that since the beginning of the war in Ukraine the Lithuanian people have been supporting Ukraine, and this campaign is another way to do so.

During the event the performances of Klaipeda Ukrainian community performers took place. They all wore national clothes.

While beating the clock yesterday, J. Butkevičienė invited all those who gathered to get together in a huge circle and clap their hands. So everyone, both the smallest and adults, surrounded the Theater Square.

Many people wanted to capture the spectacle.

The campaign ended with the words « Slava Ukrain! » and the gathered « Heroam Slava! ».
