In early August 2023, the rain covered the entire Dane Square and damaged the equipment that designed the water to dance to the music.

Then it turned out that the fountain technical room, which was fitted with all the engineering equipment, was flooded with water, resulting in a breakdown.

Plungės Lagūna, which carried out the installation of the fountain, disagreed with the attitude of Klaipeda Municipality that the equipment was a contractor’s affair.

The lawsuit has been going on since early September last year.

It was a forensic examination and expected an expert to arrive. It should determine why the fountain mechanism is not working. He will evaluate what construction work needs to be done when managing it.

Likely peace treaty

At the same time, there is negotiations between the countries that are hesitant to conclude the dispute peacefully.

The expert mentioned should arrive this month. It looks like it will not take long in Klaipeda, one day should be enough to inspect the defective device.

When the next court hearing will take place, it is not yet clear. The court is looking forward to the expert’s findings that the parties to the at that time have the opportunity to submit procedural documents.

Maybe there was a lack of experience

The process of installing this fountain was not typical construction work. The device itself is complex and has a lot of electronics.

« The decision to install a fountain underground was not the safest. It required a number of protective measures. It had to be ensured that the water with electronic equipment had not taken place. Although the builders took some measures, they were not enough. There was no sufficient experience for the contractor when installing this fountain, ”explained Kačalinas.

Being the work of the works, the municipality does not rule out the responsibility of the designers. The designers decided to install the said room underground. Because there are two rooms, one has water prepared, the other is installed by electronic equipment.

There is a clear pipe between these rooms and can be seen in the water level in the adjacent room.

During the pre -trial examination, an experiment was performed. It turned out that when the storm sewage system is clogged, which is often the case, the water began to enter the adjacent room with all the electronic equipment through this pipe.
