For the first time in the country microwave ablation of thyroid gland in the Cob « September 8 »

For the first time in the country, the Department of Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology Together in team cooperation with the Department of Endocrinology at the PHI COB « September 8 », the microwave ablation (MWA) of the thyroid gland was successfully performed, the health institution informed this afternoon.

-This revolutionary procedure was led by our valued interventional radiologists Dr. Filip Risteski, Dr. Slavica Calcheska, Ass. spec. Dr. Andrea Nancheva-Bogoevska and Dr. Ivona Jovanoska in cooperation with endocrinologists Dr. Radmila Milosevska and Dr. Natasa Nedeska-Minova, in close cooperation with the famous expert prof. Dr. Bulent Cekic, an intervention radiologist from Antalya, Turkey. A lecture, a phantom exercise and four patients were performed at the Cob’s « September 8 » premises, all with successful intervention, left home without complications after two hours of observation. The initiative was made possible by the joint efforts of « Promedika » and « Eco », and with the full support of the director of our hospital – prof. Dr. Sinisa Stojanoski, as well as the Director of the Health Fund, Saso Klekovski and Deputy Minister of Health, Dr. Jovica Andonovski-explain from the institution.

They point out that this achievement marks a significant step forward in the development of minimally invasive treatments in our country and sets the basis for further progress in interventional radiology in the treatment of thyroid nodes.

– Treatment of thyroid nodes is a challenge for both the patient and the doctor, and with this procedure we provide the opportunity for timely, financially accessible and painless treatment of this condition, with minimal risk of complications and side effects, including the need for lifelong hormone therapy.

MWA is new, underlining, a promising technique among the minimally invasive treatments of thyroid nodes.

– Microwave ablation (MWA) is an innovative procedure that uses microwave energy to heat and destroy abnormal thyroid tissue, while preserving healthy parts of the thyroid gland.
