Patient compassion is an important factor in effective control of chronic diseases, preventing complications and improving long -term health. Studies show that adherence to a good treatment plan can reduce the risk of mortality by up to 21%, while improving patients’ quality of life and survival.

Inese Mauriņa, Head of Parsirdi.lv Society: “Co -time issues are particularly relevant to our patients, because most of the drugs should be used for cardiovascular disease. Doctor’s instructions for medication.

Unfortunately, the consequences of such patient unevenness are various health disasters, which affect not only each individual, but also families and, after all, the country, creating a high financial burden associated with preventable hospitalization, premature death, etc. Therefore, together with cardiologists, pharmacists and other professionals, we are also encouraged to raise national issues as a priority in the future « Cardiovascular Health Improvement Plan ». «

Head of the Latvian Hypertension and Atherosclerosis Society, Assoc. prof. Kārlis Trušinskis: “Co -time is a cooperation between the patient, the doctor and the pharmacist. We all have one goal – to improve the health and quality of life of the patient. In the case of good co -fellow, the patient understands the treatment steps and principles, not just complies with instructions. In the case of cholesterol, the most life -long results are often used for a variety of reasons. Medications, such as lowering cholesterol only twice a year, both various technologies and applications to help patients remember the use of medication. I urge you not to be afraid and ask your doctors the best treatment solutions available, and not to hide your concerns about treating, if any. The doctor, on the other hand, should take care of the patient’s encouraging environment and take time for the patient’s questions. ”

The pharmacist survey reveals a number of main reasons why patients do not follow treatment recommendations:

  • financial restrictions – 21.4% of patients cannot afford all necessary medications, prematurely stop treatment
  • 23.5% of patients stop taking medication because they feel better, fear of side effects
  • 19.9% of patients avoid taking medication due to side effects, insufficient understanding of the need for treatment
  • 14.1% of patients do not understand the purpose of treatment, while 10.3% of patients forget to take medication regularly.

Pharmacists also point out that significant improvements in patients with patients would be possible if changes in reimbursable drugs were less frequent and the delivery breaks of individual medications are less (33.6%), state co -financing for the purchase of medicines would be greater (21.6%), and more educational campaigns on treatment (15.2%) would take place.

Eric Petersone, a pharmacist at the Moon Pharmacy, a pharmaceutical coordinator: “We, pharmacists, are often closer and easier to reach patients, so we learn more often about the problems patients face in their treatment. In the delivery of medication, breaks in the delivery of individual medications, however, to emphasize the importance of educational and informative activities, because people’s understanding of these issues is not happy with the patient association and cardiologists.
