Following the floods in Valencia: pro -Russian activists have tried to suggest that there is chaos in Spain

Pro -Russian activists are trying to present Spain as a country « sunk in chaos » after the deadly floods that affected the Valencia region at the end of October 2024, a report from the Spanish National Security Service, cited by the Vanguardia newspaper, revealed, France reported.

These pro -Russian activists have spread reports stating that the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez is using public funds in support of Ukraine against the Russian army to the detriment of the « real need for help » in its own country, the report explained.

The report also states that the misinformation in favor of the Kremlin took advantage of the floods in which 235 people were killed, mainly in the Valencia region to feed public distrust of public institutions.

Horror in Spain: Why did the warning come so late?

The AFP did not receive access to the document prepared by the National Security Service – a body responsible for preventing threats such as terrorism and cyberattacks, which reported to the Spanish Ministry of Presidency and Justice.

According to the same report, activists were also very active in the days before the European Parliament elections in June 2024, and aimed to create distrust in the electoral system.

The text of the report, quoted by Vanguardia newspaper, has identified Russia as a major source of hybrid threat to Spain because of campaigns aimed at « promoting social and political division » in the country.

The report sent by the National Security Service to the Congress of MPs was approved at a National Security Council meeting chaired by King Felipe Sixth on April 24, AFP said.
