Because the Civil Code states that the partnership is only a union between a man and a woman, and that same -sex relationships are not established.
« The Constitutional Court, on the basis of the essentially formulated, as you know, the family concept has just continued to join it, » said Judge Daiva Petrylaitė, Judge of the Constitutional Court.
The Constitutional Court also allowed one -sex couple to write through the courts.
« The court will oblige the Civil Registration Division to register their partnership relationships, » said Raskevičius.
