Folk songs, tales spoke on the lips of children
At the two -day event, as many as 200 young performers from all over Lithuania and the Lithuanian community in the United Kingdom competed in the categories of narrative, single and group singing and music in various Lithuanian folk instruments. Children and young people between the ages of 3 and 19 followed tales and tales, performed songs of different genres, played with rags, kankles, horns, violins, bagpipes, bandonies, harmony and other traditional instruments, conveying the peculiarity of the native land, love for traditions, youthful sincerity and individuality.

The jury had a really difficult task from a large number of talented young performers to select winners and diplomants. This year, 33 winners and 51 diploma were announced for their exceptional mastery, tradition of tradition and peculiar expression.

12 singers (individual and bands) were the best folk song performers, and the coolest narrators were 6 participants, and 15 musicians who played alone and bands were recognized as instrumental music masters.

Tramtatulis is more than a contest. It is a living connection with our inherited culture. We are delighted that we have great teachers who are educating young people, encouraging them to respect the traditions of their country and take over purposefully, ”said Jūratė Šemetaitė, head of the Lithuanian National Culture Center, head of the Lithuanian National Culture Center.

The winners of the competition « Tramtatulis » will be held at the Lithuanian Museum of Ethnography in Rumšiškės on June 15.
Since 2005 The competition organized by the Lithuanian National Culture Center and partner municipalities brings together children and young people from big cities and remote areas every year, helps to discover a peculiar relationship with Lithuanian folk art and develops respect for it. This year’s competition was dedicated to a special occasion-the year of Lithuanian folk songs and the 200th anniversary of Louis Reza’s first collection of Lithuanian songs. On this occasion, the contest also featured joint songs of different regions, which were sang in the conference hall of the Kaunas Archdiocese, formerly the winners of the Tramtatulis Saulėė Pečiulytė and Vilius Sungaila.

The national circle was organized by the Lithuanian National Culture Center, Kaunas City Municipality Administration Education Department, Kaunas Folk Culture Center. The competition was partly funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
