Flu’s prevalence continues to decline / day

Last week, the flu was clinically identified in 133 cases, which is 75 people less than a week in advance.

The major incidence is still observed in Riga, where 92 cases of influenza have been reported. Cases of influenza are also recorded in Jurmala, Daugavpils, Jekabpils region, Rezekne, Jelgava, Gulbene district and Liepaja.

With the flu, as in the previous season, children under the age of 14 are more likely to suffer. Last week, the incidence among children decreased, but still high. In the age group of 15 years, the incidence remained at the average level.

Inpatient influenza tests were performed in 481 patients, including 32 cases or 6.7% confirmed influenza. Type A influenza virus is prescribed for 13 patients and type B influenza in 11 patients.

There were also three reports of deaths in patients with confirmed type A influenza infection. All the dead were over 60 and had several side diseases and risk factors.

Last week, 674 tests for Covid-19 were also made, of which 23 or 3.4% were positive, while a week earlier Covid-19 infection was confirmed in 3.7% of cases.

Last week, the number of Covid-19 patients admitted to hospitals remained at about the previous week. 35 people are hospitalized, four more than a week in advance.

A total of 70 patients with Covid-19 infection have been treated this week, of which 25 were a basic diagnosis.

One death in patients with Covid-19 has also been recorded.
