Flu season 2025: Infections further declining
The seasonal wave of respiratory infections continues to flatten the Grand Duchy. This emerges from the latest weekly report by the Ministry of Health. In the observed period from February 17th to 23rd, a significant decline in the reported flu cases was recorded. According to the ministry, the number fell from 1,630 to 1,166, which corresponds to a decline of 28 percent compared to the previous week. This confirms that « the epidemic phase seems to have been overcome, » says the corresponding press release.

Accordingly, the infections with the respiratory syncyal virus (RSV), which primarily affects toddlers and the elderly, have experienced a decline: 127 cases were recently reported – 27 percent less compared to the previous week. However, the RSV protection of the vulnerable groups remains a central concern to avoid serious health complications, according to the Santé.

Falling virus load in the wastewater
The number of Corona attachments followed the same trend: 42 positive cases were reported here, which means a decrease of 24 percent. 55 cases were still registered in the previous week. The viral load, which was measured in sewage samples, also indicates a decline.
