Five Views of Croatia that take you your breath

Croatia is a real cradle of natural wonders, so we present to you the five vantage points you have to experience if you are looking for contact with nature, history or yourself.

1. Visovac – an island in the heart of the river and soul

In the heart of the Krka River, near Skradin, lies the magical island of Visovac, surrounded by green silence. The Franciscan monastery from the 15th century stands as a white guard on the blue -green surface. The Visoko View of Visovac offers one of the most beautiful views in Croatia – a combination of serene nature, spirituality and history.

From the viewpoint leads the winding paths to the Port of Stinica, the starting points for boats that take you to the island. This is where the 8.5 km long educational path of Stinica -Roški Slap -Ozadjan Pećin, which leads you through the centenary forest and past the waterfalls. Krka National Park offers more than 47 km of hiking and 388 km of cycling trails.

2. Paklenica – Gate into the world of rock secrets and adrenaline

The magnificent gorge of Paklenica opens the way to the heart of Velebit, which hides more than 150 kilometers of hiking trails, 388 km of cycling trails and nearly 600 climbing directions. The most famous tour, Velika Paklenica, leads to Manita Peć Cave. This is the only cave in the park that is open to visitors, and you can admire the capers that wear interesting names such as a helmet, organ pipes and even a witch.

Those who will climb higher will be rewarded with beautiful views that reach all the way to the rash. Did you know that from the Vagan summit, which is the highest point of Velebit with 1757 meters, in clear weather, views are up to 150 km away? A special treat, however, is Sveti Brdo – the unofficial king of the Velebit views, from which you even see the Apples in good weather.

3. Premuzic’s path – walk along the roof of the Adriatic

Premužić’s path, a masterpiece of drywall construction, runs through the most beautiful parts of Velebit – from Zvozan to Baška Ostarija. 57 kilometers long, without major climbs, gives access to the most vantage points of Velebit also to less experienced hikers. It was built in 1933, and it takes place along the north and middle of Velebit, where views of the entire Kvarner Bay and the legendary Kornati are waiting for you. No need for climbing or special equipment – only solid will and open eyes.

The path, built by local masters with drywall construction techniques, subtly blends in with a stone landscape and can withstand the most demanding weather conditions. During the day, you are impressed by the sea of islands, and at night the sky without light pollution – the right path for anyone who is looking for peace, nature and feeling that you are small in something big.

4. Sisak-Moslavaska-Story and Soul views

When you move inside Croatia, you discover a region where nature is intertwined with history. At the viewing point of Čukur above the Una River, west of the Croatian Kostajnica, stands one of the most beautiful monuments of the Homeland War – the « dishented landscape », a symbol of the fallen war photographer Gordan Lederer. This is a place where the respect of the past meets the magnificent nature.

Hrastovaška Gora is a paradise for hikers: from marked trails to the dirt that leads everything to the top of Cepeliš (415 m), where the mountain lodge with a viewing platform stands. Moslavas Gora, surrounded by the rivers of Cesma, Lonja and Ilova, is not high, but offers a vibrant landscape with ridges and slopes. VIS VIS (444 m) is the goal of Croatian Mountain Options, and although it is not the highest, it gives you the feeling that you have arrived far.

5. Štrigova and Majerkin Breg – When the view goes across four countries

It is in the north of Croatia, right next to the Slovenian border, the hilly landscape of Štrigova boasts serene beauty, and it seems that every view is an artistic work. Majerkin Breg, also called the « Olympus of the North », reigns over the vineyards, which were planted here in the first century by the Roman Empire.

At the top, an architectural pearl – the lookout tower of the Maderka 28 -meter -high lookout is expected. From the viewing platform at 21. Meter or 361 meters above sea level, you are opened by the panorama that extends to Slovenia, Austria, Hungary and even Slovakia. Majerkin Breg, however, is not just a place of views – there are concerts, art colonies and sunsets, which is being told long afterwards.
