As a result of a fire that exploded in a building acting as a hostel, five people lost their lives. 12 tenants managed to escape. Investigators work intensively to explain the circumstances of this tragic event.
The hostel was not registered as an accommodation object
The hostel belonged to Irena W. her son Andrzej W. managed the rooms, which he rented to seasonal workers, Ukrainians and other people in need. Some of the inhabitants who used a place in Lubomska are people who have not arranged in their lives or lost their existing roof over their heads. The hostel was not registered as an accommodation, and its tenants often lived there on the basis of oral contracts. Even worse, the building did not have basic fire protection, such as fire extinguishers, which is a requirement for facilities offering rooms.
In some media, information appeared that the apartments were converted from the slaughterhouse. That’s not true. Of course, the slaughterhouse was in this place, but it is attached to a residential building where the owner rented rooms.
