Five injured in a knife attack, a suspect arrested – Liberation
Five people were injured Thursday in Amsterdam after a knife assault and a suspect was placed in police custody, police announced on Thursday, March 27. Police said they had deployed a security cordon around the incident location, near the central DAM square. “We currently have no information on the cause or mobile of the knife incident. This is part of our investigation ”said the police. The state of health of the injured was not communicated immediately. Despite the evacuation of the wounded, the presence of the police as well as ambulances remains important, noted an AFP journalist on the spot.
The first images of the Local APP news agency showed an injured person transported on a stretcher and then charged at the back of an ambulance. A rescue helicopter also landed on Dam Place to help victims. Police vans and ambulances are also present. According to local media, the mayor of Amsterdam, Femke Halsema, left a meeting at the Town Hall when the news of the attack came to him. Police have called anyone with images of the incident to transmit them as proof.
