Five detained for threatening, kidnapping and forcing a man who had denounced them in Elda | Spain

The Calvary of a neighbor of Elda (Alicante, 55,157 inhabitants), 46, began with a fight during the celebration of the major parties of the town in September last year. After suffering an aggression by three people and denouncing the facts before the National Police, he was threatened, attacked, coerced, stolen, retained against his will and forced to beg until in January 2025, he ended up hospitalized in the UCI, on the verge of death. The police investigation culminated in mid -April with the arrest of five people, four men and a woman of ages between 18 and 39 years, and all with family ties, which she is accused of a long list of crimes, including those of illegal detention, deals with human beings, belonging to the criminal group and fraud. After paying for court, three of them have been sent to prison.

The victim denounced the injuries suffered in full parties in September last year. And his aggressors tried by all means to withdraw their lawsuit, to avoid facing a judicial fine, according to national police sources. The aggressions, coercion and threats started at that time, in which the arrested came to turn the situation and offered a pact to their victim: pay 1,000 euros to forget everything that happened and leave it alone. Given the situation of anguish, the assaulted moved to Torrevieja (106,350 inhabitants), an hour of travel by car from Elda, in order to get away from his aggressors.

However, the police report, it did not take a month to find it. In October, three of the detainees located and resumed the coercion. He was forced to deal with the alleged debt contracted and the victim agreed to pay 700 euros, hoping that everything would end. As it was not, he filed a new complaint in November, this time for the extortion suffered. And shortly after, one of the members of the alleged criminal group returned to TorreviejaHe captured the victim and transferred her to the family home of the arrested. Until the debt would come out, they told him, he was not going to return to his Torrevejense shelter, police sources tell.

For two months, the victim was retained, most of the time on a balcony. The aggressions and coercion continued. The documentation and cards were removed, with which they produced a debt in the current account of up to 4,000 euros, although sources close to the investigation raise the stolen figure to 10,000 euros in total. In addition, he was forced to ask for alms in a shopping center in the neighboring municipality of Novelda (26,947 inhabitants). Everything I could get, as much money and any type of product, went to the captors. To avoid that he could alert someone, they supplied Benzodiazepines regularly.

The seclusion and the ill -treatment suffered caused a serious deterioration in the victim’s health. To such an extent, the sources consulted, that in January of this year they « was about to die, the kidnappers scared and took him to a hospital located in Elche » so that they could not identify or locate them. It was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the health center « with a diagnosis of sepsis of respiratory origin, polytrauma for aggressions, dehydration, acute diarrhea and other similar conditions, » details the National Police. « It remained for 20 days admitted to the ICU without anyone knowing who it was, » recall knowledge of the case, « and when recovering consciousness, he could already be identified and transferred to the Elda hospital. » In total, he was hospitalized 90 days.

A third complaint, filed after entry into the hospital, allowed the Judicial Police Brigade of the Elda-Petrel Police Station to open the Dumas operation, which for three months gathered evidence, identified the aggressors and tried to clarify everything that happened since the initial fight. In mid -April, the agents entered the domicile of the suspects, who were arrested. Four of them had a history of different events. Investigators accuse them of crimes of injury, illegal detention, against moral integrity, trafficking in human beings, against public health, belonging to the criminal group, against the administration of justice and several related to the scam. Three of them, considered the main responsible in this case, have been imprisoned.
