Fish Botry campaign will continue, fishing not yet

The Ljubno ob Savinji fishing family began a charity campaign last year Let’s revive the Savinja, be a godfather to our fish. The campaign they will continue turned out to be very successful for the first year, with 151 godfathers donated about 49,000 euros. As the president of a fishing family said Gregor Križnikthus bought the lipan puppies and paid the cost of eating creek trout for two years.

After one year of the campaign, yesterday, with first -graders, they filed a hundred to 150 grayers in the Savinja River, and in Ljubno also brown trout. « They bring another 1500 lipans and about 8,000 trout next week, » said Križnik.

The campaign will continue, so fishing and fish lovers can still donate in general. They certainly need money, since the idea of investing fishes of fish for three years in a row, so that they have the entire age pyramid in the water, which can then be maintained, Križnik explained.

Fishing, who brought about 3,000 guests to the Upper Savinja Valley before the flood, who left a lot of money here, otherwise there will be no. “Only in the narrow part of the district, where we will commercially invest a little larger fish, will we open fishing because we have to provide revenue for the fishing family to cover the costs. But most between Luče and Solčava will remain closed, even between Ljubno and Luče, very likely, because the situation in the water does not allow fishing, « explained Križnik.

The catastrophic flood of August 2023 destroyed about half of the fish population, then the water was twice high more, Križnik explains: “The water did not spill, mostly remained in the riverbed, but the fish has been exhausted since the first flood. Many were injured when we were solving them, we saw fish without scales, scraped. There was also no food because all the insects were flushed. This was followed by emergency measures, sprouting water that prevented feeding. Today, there are ten to 30 percent of the former fish population in water. In some parts, the fish completely disappeared, two months ago we found a single fish at okonina at 500 meters. This is part that has been died so many times with excavators that the fish simply cannot survive, but there is no room for it, because there are no pools, no stones, nothing. The fish has nowhere to be. «

That is why they will insist on the action that the Savinja River with the tributaries would be restored as soon as possible at least part of the original fish wealth and reputation.
