FIRST CLASS FRY – We tried the plane pineapple and mango, is it worth it to give them 12 euros?
Famous Air Force Pineapple – Ever since Rihanna was seen dipping Mango in seawater and enjoys every bite, tropical fruit has not caused so much attention in our region. And how would it be as popular as raspberries in Greenland. However, Mango and pineapple occasionally end up on our plates, not just in the notes of some Kilian, Xerjoff or Lattafe.

The great pineapple pine nuts are charged 118 euros, and the Italians hate this supplement: a terrible idea!
One of the main reasons why tropical fruit does not cause enthusiasm for us lies in logistics. Mango, pineapple and society often travel for weeks or even months, in containers, refrigerators and under controlled conditions. Moreover, they most often be wicked by immature and then « ripen » with ethylene and other plant hormones. Sounds to lick your fingers, no?
The fruit traveling by plane (yes, literally)
The merchants seem to have decided to put an end to the fruit boredom. On the shelves of Konzum and Interspar, the so -called Aviian pineapple and mango, or « by air » fruit. Konzum’s website reads: « Apartment pineapple – a fresh pineapple, which has been nicketed and brought in a plane from the tropical regions in which it is grown within 24 hours. This way ensures that the pineapple be fresh, mature, sweet and juicy. » How much time has passed from the plane to our basket – it’s hard to say. But one thing is for sure: it’s not about months. The ‘by air’ fruit can also be found in smaller stores and markets.
When we saw the price – 12 euros for pineapple and 6 euros for mango – we were slightly passed by anger. Usually for these figures we can buy a mini fruit shop, not just one fruit. But curiosity beat the frugality, so we took both – and plane pineapple and aircraft mango.
The first impression? Wow.
At first glance it was clear – this is not « ordinary » fruit. The pineapple was bright yellow, fragrant and full of juice, while Mango was so juicy that we were seriously thinking that half of us simply turned into juice. But the real test is not a look – but the taste. To get as objective as possible, we first tried the « classic » mango and pineapple from the store. Solid but nothing spectacular. Then – a plane version. And the difference? Amazing. We have organized even Mini Blind Taste Test In the editorial board, everyone was easily recognized what the « by Air » samples were. The taste was full, sweet, intense, almost as if we were eating dessert, not an ordinary piece of fruit.
The Mango aircraft immediately reminded us of our previous trips to the tropical regions – the juicy, velvety taste that does not leave a bitter trace in the mouth, but melts as a sorbet, and the same is true of pineapple. After a few snacks you feel like you have eaten a dessert such as Mango Sticky Rice or the whole fruit salad, not just one fruit. Where does this miracle come from? From the Costa Rica – a country that is now dangerous to climb our Travel Bucket list.
Is it worth it?
The difference in quality, aroma and taste is obvious. But is the high price justified? If you are looking for experience and want to enjoy the taste of tropical fruit as if you were on Bali, plane mango and pineapple are a great choice.
On the other hand, if you use fruits for smoothie or oatmeal – the taste difference will be lost and the price will not be so nice. But as a small luxury snack or wow the brunch supplement? Definitely yes.
