Fires: Firefighters and aircraft are sent by EU – 4 planes to Greece

A total of 22 firefighters and 650 firefighters from 14 European countries will be available by the Commission during the summer months in the south countries affected by fires during the summer months.

This was also announced by the Climate Commissioner, Vopke Husktra in Athens as part of discussions on the implementation of the European Union (EU) legislative framework (EU) on the climate and energy of 2030 and found at the Hymithos Development Development Protection Association, along with the Minister of Environment.

During July and August, firefighters will be strategically placed in basic high -risk locations in France, Greece, Portugal and Spain.

In particular, four medium -sized airplanes will be available in Greece and two light planes in Cyprus. In France, four medium -sized airplanes and a helicopter will be available in Croatia, Italy and Spain from two medium -sized amphibious planes each, while Sweden will be assisted by four light airplanes, Portugal two, two.

In addition, 19 ground firefighting groups, about 30 firefighters each, and a group of experts, are ready to mobilize by the EU in close cooperation with the Member States and participating states through the mechanism.

A special fire support team will be set up at the EU Emergency Coordination Center, which will operate 24/7, to monitor the risk and analysis of scientific data.

The Minister of the Environment referred to the Antinero program, stressing that « after the significant losses of our country in recent years, we are implementing a coherent and ambitious fire prevention program to enhance durability and protect our ecosystems.
