Fireman Piotr returned to life after a tragic accident

Piotr was hit by a car when he saved the injured in an accident
Like his older brother, Piotr decided on a career of a professional fireman, realizing children’s dreams of helping. Fascinated by profession from an early age, he did not stop at work in the unit. He was also a member of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, Honorary Blood Donor and Volunteer of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.
« He was full everywhere, » recalls his father.
Shortly before the tragedy he fulfilled his great dream – he bought a flat in Koszalin. He eagerly renovated and arranged them, planning a peaceful life on his own. But the unlucky day, on April 27, everything changed.
That day Piotr returned from night service when he came across a car. He did not hesitate – as a firefighter and a good man he started to help the injured woman. Unfortunately, when securing the place of the incident, he was hit by an oncoming car. The impact force rejected him for a few meters, and the head injuries turned out to be dramatic.
« When I heard about the accident, I thought it was something less serious. But then I realized that I was about my son’s life, » says Piotr’s dad in an interview with Medonet.pl.
Piotr hit the ICU in critical condition. The doctors fought for his life, but hope went out with every hour.
When doctors They informed the familythat Piotr does not respond to stimuli and the death of the brain may be found, the world of Andrzej and his wife collapsed.
« We said goodbye to my son, but we knew it wasn’t the end, » says the father.
And then a miracle happened. The next day, Piotr began to react – he coughed, moved his mouth, gave a sign that he was not going to give up.
It was the first step on a long way to recover. Piotr began breatheand soon after he went to the adult Budzik clinic. There, under the watchful eye of specialists and his family, he made further progress.
The daily presence of parents, their love and commitment, as well as intensive rehabilitation brought results. Piotr began to wake up. The first smile, handshake, reactions to commands – for the family it was moments full of emotion and hope. After 15 months in Budzik, Piotr returned home.
Today he is still fighting for full fitness. Communicates with gestures, a doctors They agree – there is a chance that he will start talking again. The family does not stop in efforts to provide him with the best care and rehabilitation.

Peter’s dedication did not go unnoticed. Recently, President Andrzej Duda decorated him with a medal for courage.
Piotr’s family thank you to everyone who supports them in this difficult fight – from firefighters from the unit, through friends, to strangers who pay funds for Piotr’s rehabilitation. The costs are huge, but every zloty gives hope for a better tomorrow.
Rehabilitation costs about 30 thousand. PLN per month, which is why the collection was launched to ensure Piotr’s continuity of therapy. Every help matters.
