Firefighters responded to more than 2,200 occurrences
Firefighters responded between 11:30 am and 20h00 on Monday to more than 2,200 occurrences, Civil Protection said. The authority has advanced that corporations have kept “normal functioning” since the start of the electric blackout.
“Firefighters have maintained from the first minute of the event their normal operation, having responded, until 8 pm, to more than 2. 200 occurrences” says Anepc, confirming that orange alert was decreed at the end of Monday.
Civil Protection indicates that under the meeting of the National Operational Coordination Center (CCON), which took place throughout APENPC headquarters, “a special operational technical statement of the special alert to orange was issued at 7:30 pm to increase operational response capacity, compared to the predictable increase in occurrences in the evening and dawn”.
The issuance of special alerts to the Civil Protection System is the competence of the APENPC and aims to increase the degree of readational readiness and response and to give knowledge of the essential information device in order to allow the triggering of complementary actions within the scope of protection and relief.
A widespread cut in electric supply affected on Monday, since 11:30 am, Portugal and Spain, continuing without explanation by the authorities.
Closed airports, traffic congestion and traffic in large cities and lack of fuels were some of the consequences of blackout.
The E-Redes Electricity Distribution Network Operator guaranteed this morning that the service is fully reset and normalized.
