– We received a report of density smoke at 5:42 pm. Stations from Novi Zagreb were immediately sent to the field and the closest fire unit – said Sinisa Jembrih from the City of Zagreb Public Fire Department. Arriving at the site of the intervention, firefighters found a fire in a leaked phase in the storage spaces of several thousand square meters.

Despite the force of fire and dangerous conditions, there are no injuries. The fire has engulfed various materials, predominantly furniture, mechanical parts, and one car and construction machines have been found in the space.

– At one point, due to the extremely high temperatures, we had to withdraw and move on to the active outdoor defense. The temperature was so much that the tin was literally melting – said Jembrih, estimating that these were temperatures between 1000 and 1500 ° C.

In addition to professional firefighters, there are numerous voluntary units on the ground, which, as Jembrih emphasized, instead of being with their families, is selflessly assisted in the defense of Zagreb from the Fire Sinter.

City utility services, including purity and the water supply and drainage, also participate in the extinguishing, which provide additional amounts of water.

The fire is divided into three sectors, two of which are, according to Jembriha, currently under control, while the third is still a challenge. However, it encourages that this part is inside the concrete block, which reduces the possibility of further expansion.

– The luck of the accident is that the fire is happening in a location where no one lives, and the approach is good – Jembrih concluded. There are currently 33 fire trucks and 140 firefighters on the ground, and the cause of the fire will be known after a police investigation that will follow when conditions are created for this.
