The director of the Biebrza National Park Artur Wiatr informed that the fire is taking place near the area of strict park protection, i.e. the Czerwone Bagno reserve. It is a place valuable for many species, an elk refuge, but also a wolf, a lynx, rare species of birds: a thick eagle, a flashy eagle, aquatic water, a kszyk, a dubelt.
– From the park’s point of view, this is a very important place. It is a cradle of nature protection over Biebrza – explains Artur Wiatr. In his opinion, it is crucial that the fire does not move to the forest. He also added that the analysis of natural habitats covered by fire is underway.
– On the night of Monday to Tuesday, firefighters built a kilometer fire firefighting line from hoses, powered by water from a nearby river – said Capt. Cezary Zalewski from the District Headquarters of the State Fire Service in Wysokie Mazowieckie. Today it will be added about 1-1.5 km of such a network.
On Tuesday morning, about 300 firefighters of PSP and TSO worked on the spot. The firefighting company from the Masovian Voivodeship is also to come (there is a firefighting company from Olsztyn from Monday). There are also two specialized groups for extinguishing forest fires from Earth (from Poznań and Lublin). Foresters, WOT and the park employees themselves also help.
There are also 5 State Forest helicopters and a police Black Hawk. Yesterday he dropped 219 thousand. liters of water, and helicopters 125 thousand
