Fire in Markopoulo: sounded 112
An alarm rang Monday morning for the fire that broke out earlier in Markopoulo Mesogaias. The fire burns trash and dry greens on Hippodromou Street near the Markopoulou Municipality Train Station and is attempting a strong fire brigade power in fear of expansion.
The message of 112 states that the fire that has erupted in a waste transfer area in Markopoulo Mesogaia Attica is ongoing. Due to the tobacco it is advisable for citizens to stay indoors, to close doors and windows and to follow the authorities’ instructions.
According to testimonies cited by irafina.gr, the fire was caused by some who attempted to burn cables.
Strong firefighters by Koropi, Markopoulo and Lavrio are operating at the spot. According to the same source, earlier interrupted fire brigade, which was ongoing in Lavrio so that the vehicles were transported to Markopoulo and reinforce the forces there and are trying to extinguish.
