Finnair slips Swedish exclamation on the flight

The airline Finnair chooses the Swede on its flights. According to the result of a passenger survey for a long time, it takes when cabin crew repeats the same message in many different languages. Therefore, Finnair’s management has chosen Finnish and English as the languages that are now used on board the blue and white flights.

– Passengers have wanted fewer language variants. According to the customer survey that we have made, many people feel that the exclamations are too long and the repetitions unnecessary, says communications manager Mia Eloranta at Finnair.

The decision to abolish The Swede aboard the flights came into force on April 7. This applies to most of Finnair’s flights both domestic and abroad.

– We retain the Swedish exclamations on domestic flights to Mariehamn, Vaasa and Jakobstad, as well as on foreign flights to Stockholm and Gothenburg. On all other flights, the exclamations are made in Finnish and English, says Mia Eloranta.

In Finnair’s communications department, the change is not considered particularly large, as the airline abandoned the Swedish language requirement as early as 2017.

– We already have some flights where the staff cannot do not Finnish or Swedish. At the same time, we have many in the cabin crew who speak Swedish fluently, and they are happy to serve our passengers in Swedish even in the future, says Eloranta.

Finnair says the company Regularly follows up the customer response that comes in and strives to react to it. About 19,000 passengers per month usually give response after their trip.

– So far we have not received any response to the missing Swedish exclamations. As we look at the matter, fewer languages in the exclamation are a small change that does not significantly affect the level of service, says communications manager Mia Eloranta.
