Finished VIII. Student Film Review of the VERN ‘2025 University.
The award of the awards ended ‘VIII. The VERN University Student Film Review, which took place at the Zagreb cinema on May 26 and 27, which shows this year’s student production of short feature, documentaries, animated and experimental films, including one feature film that was directed by Mile Ostovic, VERN ‘.
The best film by the jury, this year’s Grand Prix, won the short feature film « In the Shadow of Christmas », director and producer Goran Lovrenščak.
The award -winning director emphasized that the only thing he wants to do is « thank the jury and the audience because the film is enough to say about himself and it is not necessary to say anything more about it », which deserves the applause of the audience. The jury behind this decision was made up of Isa Zivanovic (film producer), Sara Kaluderovic (VERN’A Bachelor, Director) and Bosko Picula (Film Critic).
The best film according to the audience’s votes was named the short feature film « Mago » by director Dominic Cicka and producer Monica Misic.
The peculiarity of this year’s magazine was the premiere Pitch in Croatia, which Pitchali exclusively dramaturly, students of VERN’O’s obsession studio of the transmedia dramaturgy, who sought directors and producers for their future author’s achievements.
The winner of Pitch was decided by the jury of Robert Tomic Zuber (lecturer at VERN University ‘, director and producer), Maja Vukic (president of the Croatian Producers Association, a member of the European Film Academy) and Sara Horvatić (graduate VERN’A, director, winner of numerous international awards), who has named the best screenplay for the brief feature film » screenwriters Ivana Dadić. The other best that has also achieved the honorary title of Special Mention was named the short horror film « Mons Oblivion » by screenwriter Karl Cilic.
« I hope my Pitch will encourage and inspire many to deal with this genre and that Croatia finally shoots a real horror film, » Cilic emphasized after the ceremony of the magazine.
The atmosphere of this year’s magazine was further magnified by the famous movie faces in the theater, which are also the protagonists of student films such as Goran Grgić, Robert Kurbaša, Kristijan Ugrina, Anica Kovacevic and others.
