Fuss at Pentecost on a few apartment buildings in the center of Ypres. Residents saw how a man put on some windows on Sunday morning on the ground floor of Residentie Melinda in the Vleeshouwersstraat. « He was clearly under the influence and there was a companion that was calmer, » testifies a local resident who prefers to remain anonymous. « The perpetrator had injuries on the leg, possibly due to the windows. Some residents were added and the incident resulted in a rolling fight on the street. »

The person was taken for questioning. According to the public prosecutor of West Flanders, this is a man of 37 years from Zonnebeke. He is summoned in fast rights for success, rebellion, damage to immovable property and drug possession. According to a local resident, there was also gay behavior. « That man shouted ‘dirty gay’. Nice neighborhood here. There have already been problems with a former tenant who apparently was a dealer in the past. »

Philip Bolle, opposition councilor for Vooruit, has been living in the street for thirty years. During last month’s city council, he was awarded a dilapidated building at the apartment building in question. « The building is neglected, shows large facade cracks and cannot be renovated. Demolition is the only realistic slope, » he said. « Since August 27, last year, the house has been included on the ‘Inventory Vacancy’. This attractive corner plot of 527 square meters has been on sale for quite some time, but much enthusiasm does not seem to be there with potential buyers. »

Bolle suggests a purchase through the city. “Not to be converted, but to demolish and decorate as a local neighborhood park. Appealing are four solitaire apartment blocks of seven -storey high, one block of four -storey high and about twenty family homes. The resident typology is very diverse: many single people and seniors, but also families with children and a rest of the neighborhood, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, a short of green and a resting point of old and a resting point in the neighborhood of old and a resting point in the neighborhood of old and a peace and quiet point of old people and a peace and quiet. to talk.

« This plot is intended for housing, which also determines the value of the building, » said ships Emmily Talpe (Team Ypres). « We are talking about a purchase price of 220,000 euros here. This is still without demolition costs, green construction and annual maintenance. »

According to Talpe, there is enough green in the neighborhood and meeting is possible on the site of the Academy and BIB. « The city must make important choices with limited investment space, so we have to sow to the bag. »

Bolle repeats his proposal in response to the recent incident. « Otherwise I fear a cracked building and additional nuisance. »
