« Fifty Shades of Gray » director James Foley is dead
US director James Foley, who, among other things, turned the star-occupied drama « Glengarry Glen Ross » and « Fifty Shades of Gray » continuation.
Foley was 71 years old. « James Foley was not only a talented director, but also a close friend, » said talent manager Florent Lamy of the « Los Angeles Times » and confirmed the death of the filmmaker.
His last films were the sequels to the erotic strip « Fifty Shades of Gray »-« Dangerous Love » (2017) and « Freedom Lust » (2018)-with the main actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. From 2013 to 2015, Foley turned 12 episodes of the TV series « House of Cards » with Kevin Spacey in the leading role.
Thriller at the Berlinale
The psychological thriller was one of his first successes « at short distance », which Foley presented at the Berlinale in 1986. Christopher Walken and Sean Penn play the leading roles as father and son in the gangstermelodram. For pop star Madonna, he staged several music videos and also brought the singer in front of the camera for the comedy « Who’s Girl » (1987).
