FIFA fines Albania and closes part of the stadium to Serbia
FIFA fined the Albanian Football Federation following the discriminatory behavior of Albanian fans during the qualifying match for the 2026 World Cup against Andorra, held at the National Arena Stadium on 24 March 2025.
The FIFA Disciplinary Commission considers the behavior of the fans unacceptable and has imposed a fine of 20,000 Swiss francs against the AFF as well as the closure of at least 20% of the stadium in Albania’s next match in FIFA competitions, with priority in the tribunes behind the gates.
According to the decision made by FIFA, this 20% can be filled with community groups or anti -discrimination organizations, with prior approval by the world football government. Also, within 6 months, the AFF should design and submit an improved plan against discrimination to be approved by FIFA.
The federation calls on fans to continue to support the national team, creating a warm and positive atmosphere and invites them to show citizenship and respect through correct behavior towards the opposing team, to avoid any situation that can hurt the red team.
AFF remains pending FIFA instructions on how to implement the decision.
