Prešov. Prime Minister Robert Fico (Smer) In September last year, during the first inspection day of the construction of a new military hospital in Prešov, he declared that it would cost EUR 550 million.
He praised the transfer of the hospital from the Ministry of Health under the defense: « It allows to use 550 million euros in the next three years to build a brand new University Hospital in Prešov, which will be a military hospital. »
However, it is already clear that construction will cost much more.

And this amount has increased in the Prime Minister’s statements. In April this year, he said on the next inspection day: « » A huge amount is planned to spend on this hospital, around 650 million euros. These are the resources that come from the Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic, which helps us significantly. «
From September 2024 to April 2025, the final amount, pronounced by Prime Minister Fico, thus increased by EUR 100 million.
By comparison, this amount represents such a volume of money as the entire annual budget of Bardejov, Svidník, Stropkov and Stará Ľubovňa together.
Why is one hundred million more expensive?
Where this discrepance has been taken is not clear.
