The city embarked on the restoration of the central military cemetery of the Red Army in the Hrádok locality. Fico’s contribution would not be enough, the municipality needed additional funding to reconstruct the reverent place.
The same amount as the Prime Minister contributed to the Embassy of the Russian Federation. The Town Hall explained that it did not provide the subsidy directly to it, but to the contractor of construction work.
The cemetery is reconstructed today. On Tuesday, the reverent laying of wreaths on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the Day of Victory over Fascism was also attended by the Prime Minister.

The central military cemetery of the Red Army is the largest memorial burial ground in Slovakia, there are more than 17,600 soldiers who fell in the liberation of Czechoslovakia during World War II. A little smaller is a similar cemetery in Zvolen with 17 280 buried.
