Federation warns of large Easter traffic and long traffic jams on these streets
There should be a lot of traffic over the Easter days on the street and rail. The Federal Office for Street (Astra) warns. The SBB rely on extra trains.
At Easter, too, a lot of traffic jams are expected on the Gotthard.
The SBB upgrade for Easter traffic
At Easter, Ticino is one of the most popular travel destinations for German -speaking Switzerland. That is why the SBB clearly expands their offer, as they share. “For a stauf -free trip”, it offers passengers on the Gotthard axis 20 extra trains and a total of around 64,000 additional seats.
The increased offer applies between Maundy Thursday and Easter Monday. Nevertheless, the SBB cannot exclude that in individual cases or in the event of a fault, there are high frequencies on individual trains. It recommends early travel planning and consulting the online timetable.
The journey to the north could be significantly less pleasant. Due to various construction activities on the network of Deutsche Bahn along the Rhine Valley Railway (Karlsruhe – Basel), SBB warn: From April 14th to 28th, diversions, train failures and replacement traffic on buses. (PIN // REM)
