Federal Council Hearings: Markus Ritter or Martin Pfister

Hot phase in the Federal Council election campaign: Pfister makes the GLP laugh, knight convinces SVP with magistral appearance

A week before the day of the decision, the Federal Council candidates had to go to civil and GLP for the hearing. Who scored with whom?

Typical knight. His competitor Martin Pfister is actually his turn this Tuesday afternoon. But before the Zug without a word to the waiting journalists, pretends to appear in order to appear on time at 2.10 p.m. in front of the FDP faction for the Hearing, Markus Ritter appeared.

Over an hour before it is his turn, the St.Galler appears in front of the FDP room in the Bundeshaus and willingly answers questions. One remembers the motto, which the Peasant Association President and Middle National Council likes to repeat during these weeks: «In Bern, the big one does not eat the little one. But always the quick one. »

Hearings are crucial

It is the only small deviation from the script of a spectacle equally in every Federal Council election: A bunch of media professionals in the Bundeshaus waits several hours in front of closed doors to usually elicit quite silent candidates. Once before they disappear behind the door. And once when they come out.

Because what happens behind the closed doors can decide. This year, the hearings are even more important than usual because most in the Bundeshaus hardly know the Pfister, Health Director of Zug.

Pfister: « I think I scored »

Martin Pfister admitted to being tense. After the Hearing at the FDP, the Zug Health Director was satisfied. The conversation went well. « I think I scored and was able to answer the questions of the members of the FDP parliamentary group, » he said.

Emphasized, the wing was made relaxed. « I have a good feeling after that day, » he said. The two cannot be elicited much more. Pfister didn't even want to reveal which joke he made in the Hearing of the Green Liberals, which made them laugh.

The parties, at least officially, do not want to be shown in the cards. On Tuesday, knights and Pfister also had to stand SVP and GLP Red and answer. Only the GLP then said openly that it preferred Pfister. In terms of his positioning with regard to relationships with the EU, he is closer to the GLP position, said parliamentary group leader Corina Gredig.

Peasant Association President Ritter, on the other hand,, like in the left camp, has a difficult stand. Too often, especially with ecological topics, you pull at the other end of the knitting. The SP and Greens will carry out their hearings the day before the Federal Council elections.

The SVP wants to come together again next Tuesday to advise on how to proceed. The SVP parliamentarians should choose knights almost closed. His appearance was « excellent », says a National Council.

Ritter obviously knew how to score points. For example, by signaling the parliamentarians that he wanted to work intensively with them. « He accelerated and answered precisely, » says an SVP politician. Pfister, on the other hand, was rather disappointed.

Voices of FDP and the middle decisive

It will be crucial for knights and Pfister how the national councilors will vote from the FDP and their own ranks. The free -go -thinkers announced that they would do without an election recommendation.

In the end, many parliamentary members are likely to make fewer considerations, but the personality of the candidates. Is the reserved Pfister closer, who prefers to be silent than to say something too much? Or do you choose Knights that presses the pace and bristles with self -confidence?
