Fatal victim at a heavy apartment fire in De Haan (De Haan)

The fire started on Tuesday morning around 7 am. One of the apartments in the Van Gansberghehelling in Wenduine, part of De Haan, caught fire. The fire brigade, police, ambulance and mosquito immediately rushed to the scene.

There was another person in the apartment building when the sea of ​​flames broke out. The victim could no longer leave the building on his own and died on the spot. Another resident, an older lady, was taken to the hospital for a check -up. The other residents – mostly second persons – were evacuated and collected outside. Mayor Wilfried Vandaele arrived on the spot to follow the situation closely.

The West-Flemish public prosecutor was informed and has appointed a fire expert and law doctor. The lab will also arrive later. The cause is not yet known. « The investigation into the identity of the victim and the precise circumstances is still ongoing, » it sounds.

Tram traffic was not affected during the extinguishing works.
