Fatal frontal collision of two trucks on the B2 between Augsburg and Munich near Mammendorf

The B2 Between Augsburg and Munich was closed for around five hours on Thursday afternoon after a serious accident near Mammendorf in both directions. The closure was reported both on the Bavarian Ministry of Transport Bavaria and the ADAC traffic information. The accident occurred at shortly before 12 noon between Mammendorf (Fürstenfeldbruck district) and Puch. For an unknown cause, the 66-year-old driver of a truck had first strayed to the right and got into the guardrail, then to the left, according to the police spokesman.

There the vehicle collided head -on with another truck. The 66-year-old died at the scene of the accident, the 64-year-old driver of the oncoming truck was seriously injured to a hospital.

The two lanes of the B2 were completely closed until 5.20 p.m. Several surrounding fire departments were deployed, and an expert also took up the scene of the accident to determine the cause of the accident. After the block was lifted, the traffic on the B2 normalized in the evening.

In the meantime, a detour had been set up, which – coming from Munich – ran over Lindach, Malching and Mammendorf.
