Famous holidays in the school year 2025/2026, how much will be free of days?
Starting lessons: Monday, September 2025
CONCLUSION for the students of 9th grade: Monday, 15 June 2026
CONCLUSION for students from 1 to 8. Class 8: Wednesday, 24 June 2026
Beginning summer holidays: Thursday, 25th June 2026
At the end of the summer holidays: Sunday, 31. August 2026
The Ministry of Education has published a school calendar for elementary schools for the school year 2025/2026. Parents, teachers and others who like to plan their obligations in advance can already check when students will be free, when they begin and end lessons and what holidays bring extended weekends.
The new school year will begin for elementary school students on Monday, September 1, 2025. The lessons will be completed for nine -year -olds on June 2026 and for other students on 24 June 2026. The summer holidays will follow, which will last until 31. August 2026.
Holidays during the year
Autumn holidays will be held from 27 to 31 October 2025, with two national holidays this week: Reformation Day (October 31) and Day of Remembrance of the Dead (November 1).
New Year’s or Christmas and New Year holidays will begin on December 25, 2025 and last until 2 January 2026.

Winter holidays will be re -divided into two terms according to regions:
From 16 to 20 February 2026: for students from Gorenjska, Gorizia, Notranjsko-kaška, Obalno-Kraška, Osrednjeslovenska and Zasavska regions and some municipalities of southeastern Slovenia (Ribnica, Sodražica, Loški Potok, Kočevje, Osilnica and Kostel), Osilnica and Kostel),
From 23 to 27.
Spring or May Day holidays will last from April 27 to 1 May 2026. In the meantime, there will be holidays: the day of resistance against the occupier (April 27) and the Work Day (May 1 and 2).
Holidays during the school year
Students will also be free on Prešeren’s day, February 8, 2026, and on Easter Monday, 6 April 2026. National Day, 25 June, will be at the beginning of the summer holidays this year.

Information days for enrollment in secondary schools will be held 13 and 14. February 2026.
Exam deadline for subject and correct exams will be divided into two periods:
1. Deadline:
16. Until 30. June 2026 for Grade 9 students,
26. June to 9 July 2026 for students from 1 to 8.
2. Deadline:
18. To 31. August 2026 for all students.
Works free days
In 2026, there will be 14 national holidays and days off in Slovenia, of which only seven will fall on the working day. This means that the year will be a little less favorable for planning extended weekends.
The festive year will start beautifully – the New Year will be celebrated on Thursday, January 1, and continue with Free Friday, 2 January, which will allow many to rest in the piece. In February, however, we will be left without a day off for Prešeren’s Day, as the Slovenian cultural holiday will fall on Sunday.
Easter Monday, April 6, will be one of those rare holidays that bring work on a day off during the week – it will fall on Monday, creating an extended weekend. It will be similar at the end of April, when we will be at home on Monday, April 27 due to the day of resistance against the occupier.
The first of May will be in 2026 on Friday, which means another pleasant three -part weekend, but it will be the second May holiday, May 2, on Saturday and therefore without an extra day. National Day, 25th June, will be Thursday – Ideal for those who will also be able to take Friday for a mini vacation.
Christmas, December 25th, will be on Friday, which will end the year with a beautiful holiday weekend, but the day of independence and unity, December 26, will be on Saturday, which means that there will be no extra day.
