Family on a world trip at Passage in Antwerp suddenly discovered nearly a hundred kilograms of cocaine in Camper (Antwerp)

Antwerp

A Canadian family found nearly a hundred kilograms of cocaine in Antwerp in the camper that they had just had shipped from Uruguay. The drugs in Antwerp probably had to be taken out.

A patrol from the Antwerp police zone was approached on Friday around 6 pm at the Esso tank station on Vogelzanglaan in Antwerp. A Canadian family, traveling with a teenager, had stopped there for refueling and eating something and suddenly noticed that were in their camper blocks of cocaine. Immediately the police officers saw that it was a large quantity and the necessary measures were taken to safely confiscate the drugs and to protect the family involved.

The Canadians told the police that they were on a world trip and that they had shipped their camper in Uruguay to Antwerp and had come over by the plane. It was soon clear to the police that the owners of the camper were in good faith and were not themselves involved in the drug smuggling. Presumably a criminal organization made use of the opportunity to smuggle drugs in the unexpected camper and was the intention to recover here and something came in.

The public prosecutor confirms that 95 kilograms of cocaine were found in the camper, the drugs were seized for destruction. There is an investigation into drug catches.

(A first version said that a baby was a part of the family. It turns out to be a teenager)
