Family members of patients who died assault nurses and cause damage to Curry Cabral Hospital

The Curry Cabral Hospital in Lisbon had to call the authorities this Monday morning, following disorders at the health unit facilities.

A group of people, who will be relatives of a patient who died, assaulted health professionals and caused damage to one of the rooms, the Correio da Manhã advanced.

The PSP was alerted at 7:30 am and the São José local health unit confirmed, to SIC, that two nurses were threatened and assaulted at the Nephrology service of Curry Cabral Hospital.

The injuries inflicted to health professionals were considered slight, having been assisted at the scene.

« The incident happened following a negative reaction to the death of a family member who was admitted to the service, » the health unit said in a note.

« ULS São José deeply regrets what happened and, in particular, the aggressions made to professionals, who do everything to provide the best care to users. All efforts are being gathered to ensure the normal functioning of the service as soon as possible, » reads the same note sent to SIC.

Correio da Manhã also writes that, within this case, the authorities will have identified four individuals.
