Family doctors and patients are alerting the availability of medicines; SAVA Problems deny / Day

Meanwhile, Ainis Dzalbs, vice president of the Latvian Rural Family Physicians Association, has announced that there is a lack of medication in Latvia. He has highlighted several essential groups of medications that are the so -called « rescuing » drugs. The main problems are respiratory disease inhalers, various heart failure medications and antibacterial agents.

Jānis Libķens, a board member of the Latvian National Medicines Supply Association, also assured the newspaper Diena that this year the situation with the availability of drugs has not improved compared to last year and even worsened in some cases. In other Member States of the European Union, the availability of medicinal products is also reported periodically.

Manufacturers are delayed and the number of medicines that are delayed by manufacturers for more than 30 days are increasing. “Pharmacies, medical institutions and social care centers can only supply medicinal products to the drugs that the manufacturer has supplied to Latvia. Unfortunately, we see that this season the situation with manufacturer supplies has worsened and many medications are not available for several months.

Since there is no state -level drug reserve system in Latvia for the supply of medicines and medical institutions with medicines, doctors and patients, the only solution in such situations is to choose alternative medicines and follow the information published on the State Agency's website, which is restored daily, ”explains Mr Liben.

However, while doctors and patients report increasing lack of medication in the public sphere, the exacerbation of the availability of drug availability problems claims that trends with the availability of drugs even improving and the 7628 drugs included in the Latvian Medicines Register are currently not only available on the market. This one percent does not say anything, as far as the so -called « saving » medications are.

However, Dita Okmane, Head of the Public Relations Department, says that regular monitoring has also been introduced to the drug to treat asthma. “There are many medicines in the Latvian Medicines Register. It is important to mention that if any particular medicine is not available, analogues are often available to this drug – alternative medicines of the same or other group of medicines that can be used instead of thousands of medicines. Various solutions are also found to ensure the availability of medicines. For example, last year, when there was a lack of antipyretic suspension for children, they could be prepared at a pharmacy from tablets available and contained the same active substance, ”says Okmane.

She also explained that the overall situation with green availability is affected by demand, problems in production and supply chains. There are also seasonal medications that may have increased demand at a particular time, such as winter, cold season. For example, last year there was an unexpected demand for amoxicillin -containing antibiotics.

The drug delivery interruptions are reported by manufacturers or owners of the drug registration certificate and then the wholesalers report every day the SAR to the stocks in their warehouses. If the drug manufacturer does not deliver them to Latvia, the wholesaler cannot take them to the pharmacy or medical institutions. Meanwhile, the SAM is communicating with alternative suppliers and other parties involved. If the request cannot be provided with registered medicines, the SAR addresses the wholesalers about the possibility of obtaining a parallel import or parallel distribution permit, and, when obtained, there is an opportunity to distribute non -registered medicines in Latvia.
