Faced with the normalization of the national rally, we do not lack courage – Liberation

In public space, at work, in transport or even in dinners in town, it is less and less rare to hear reactionary wordseven openly racist, sexist, homophobic. Worse: it is more and more legitimate to accept these wordsnot to immediately recall their social or legal illicit, to raise their shoulders, to smile stupidly or to be silent. « You will soon become a sympathizer of the rhinos », note with dread the protagonist of Rhinoceros of Eugène Ionesco, little reassured by the shy response, « But no, but no. And we, in 2025, where is our dread? Throughout France and in all strata of society, our journalists have collected a number of testimonies on the denigration of concepts as consensual as equality, the protection of nature, the fraternity, the independence of justice. The main causes are known, from the dediabolization of Marine Le Pen in the media to the admiration of certain policies and journalists for Donald Trump. The field surveys of sociologists attest to this: far from being experienced as stigmatizing, the support for the theses of the RN is now valued by many.
