Brussels attorney Julien Moinil received the Fabian Ormanji (11) family on Thursday afternoon. « They are confident that the Belgian justice will act fairly, » says their lawyer Ludmila Bulgar.
In tears, the relatives of the regretted Fabian (11) said goodbye earlier this week. In the village of Cahasani, in the southeast of Moldova, the young man was buried, 2,500 kilometers from the Brussels disaster. A week earlier he found death after a « disproportionate » chase by a police combination in the Elisabeth Park in Ganshoren. It led to fierce criticism of the functioning of the police services.

Too fast, without siren and without flashing lights
The first research acts show that the driver, a twenties from Virton in Luxembourg, drove 41 kilometers per hour at the time of the collision, in the middle of a grass reservation in a public park. He told the inspectors of the P committee, the control body that analyzes the operation of the police, which prior to the fatal collision stood the sirens and the blue lights. That turned out not to be correct. According to our information, it made an investigating judge decided to hear the two occupants again. There was little clement for the contradictions in their interrogations, it sounds at a high source.
The moment the family was wearing the coffin in Moldova, the driver was arrested. After the passage with the investigating judge, he was officially suspected of « malicious hindering of traffic resulting in death ». In theory, the young agent risks up to thirty years in prison. According to Attorney Moinil, there was of course no intention to dodify the boy on the electric step, but to make him stop at all costs.
The agent is now at home, arrested, with an ankle strap. The investigation continues unabated.

Looking for truth
On Thursday afternoon, Moinil did what he announced a week earlier: the boy’s family received at his office and inform them about the steps taken in the investigation. Their lawyer Ludmila Bulgar, who the family assisted long before the drama, confirms the discreet meeting.
She doesn’t want to say anything about the content of the criminal file. « I can say that the family has faith in the Belgian justice. The family hopes for justice. That the driver has since been picked up is not something that they have a certain feeling about. They follow the investigation and hope that the full truth will come up one day. But whatever the outcome will be: a mother has lost her son for good. »
