Eyes wide open – Nova Makedonija
It is that mosaic of opportunities that opens up before all now when the foundations of the new multipolar world are hit, so now is the time when strategic alliances are being built and contracts are being signed. It is good that the connection to anyone is now not seen as an hostile act towards someone else, but in this general chase whose alliance to enter, Macedonia plays wisely and is guided by its own interests. It is important that these new relationships are built on an equal reciprocal basis, they respect us, we respect them. And more importantly, it is good that Macedonia, through those collaborations, primarily puts the emphasis on economic development, so it is not part of any new military alliances that are concluded both regionally and beyond
Everything that is happening around the world has been the result of a major restructuring of the forces in recent years and drawing a new map of interest spheres between the great powers, who have apparently agreed to leave the unipolar model of a commander and a world policeman and establish a multipolar world in which the world will be created.
Of course, small countries here will remain in the shadow of the larger and powerful states, but this time the opportunities that open before them are much greater than before, when the maximum was either with us, or are against us.
If the previous political garnishes in Macedonia have repeatedly stated that besides the European Union there is no alternative, it has been shown that all countries, including EU members, always develop more alternatives as they are aware that more options open more opportunities for the country’s progress, the economy, and thus a better life for the citizens. More opportunities mean less surprises when something unplanned.
That is why crucial in the times when the new multipolar world is created is that Macedonia is not sitting with its arms, but to establish relations and build partnership with all powerful states, alliances and the like, to be able to better position itself on the world geopolitical map.
The country already has strategic partnership agreements with the United States and Turkey, and a strategic agreement on cooperation with the UK has been signed recently. In addition, it is also a candidate for membership in the European Union, implementing fully European laws, establishing new connections with Middle East countries, Asia, and soon to work on establishing and certain links with countries in Africa and South America.
In a new multipolar world, all of these relationships will be essential for Macedonia because it provides more opportunities for its own development, acquiring future allies with which they can cooperate in many areas, to use their positive experiences, but at the same time offer their own capacities and thus become a visible point on the world map.
There are several things that this state leadership, like everyone else, should focus in the future if the country wants to become a decent place to live.
The second strategic goal set after independence three and a half decades was the EU membership after the first, NATO membership, was realized with a hasty and unnecessary sacrifice of the state name. But the road to the EU is currently hampered by similar blockades, only this time a pledge is the Macedonian identity, language and history. Let us not allow history to be repeated. And she is usually repeated. The red line this time is both thicker and red and it must not be crossed, regardless of all the promises that European leaders again make us. The recent fierce reaction of the Bulgarian MEPs during a debate on Macedonia’s progress report in the EP has only shown that the goal is to delete Macedonia from root, not constitutional changes. It is good that Macedonian diplomacy is working on the acquisition of alliances with stronger and more powerful European countries, which clearly state that bilateral issues should remain out of the negotiation process, aware that the new multipolar world is open to all those who are not satisfied with current European policies. After all, if the EU was looking at the first enemy until yesterday, today the same EU concludes co -operation with China in many areas, aware that interests are dispersed and everyone should be guided by what is most important for him. And the EU is now doing so because it has seen that many member states of the Union have begun to seek alternatives themselves, so in order to prevent internal collapse, official Brussels has begun to diversify policies himself.
The point is that Macedonia should continue to work on EU membership with an unprecedented intensity, but to insist exclusively on the Copenhagen criteria, not the Bulgarian conditions. Here in this so -called vacuum space when we do not negotiate has opened up the possibility of cooperation with the UK, which came out of the EU a few years ago, a world power that driven by its own interests decided to fund projects in Macedonia. And the country has an interest in doing so because the construction of a fast railway along Corridor 10 will start, hospitals, other infrastructure projects will be built, ie the possibility of reviving the Macedonian economy. This will mean more jobs for Macedonian citizens, easier access to Macedonian goods to European and even world markets, but also establishes the country as the main traffic knot in the southeast of Europe.
Talks in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Saudi Arabia and other Middle East countries open opportunities for energy sector co -operation in construction, making Macedonian companies potential new markets where they could work. There are possible countries for which the Vardar Valley project is a cat cough, but for Macedonia it would mean goodbye to energy challenges, providing water, electricity at a favorable price, agricultural development, water traffic development and other benefits that we may not be aware of.
And more importantly, it is good that Macedonia, through those collaborations, primarily puts the emphasis on economic development, so it is not part of any new military alliances that are concluded both regionally and beyond.
Undoubtedly the creation of a new multipolar world will open the worldview to many people here in the country, for which if the EU is not, then a flood will happen. The EU will be certainly, but dignified and proudly without blackmail. Meanwhile, it is good to look at many sides in this new multipolar world and return to every friendly hand, that only in this way will the world return to its true foundations and values.
