Explosively thrown to home in Wilrijk: front door badly damaged, suspect arrested (Wilrijk)

On Monday night, strangers threw an explosive to a house in the Valaardreef in Wilrijk. The front door suffered serious damage. Nobody was injured. The police started an investigation. A suspect was arrested during the night.

The facts took place shortly after midnight. « The police received several reports of a loud bang in the vicinity of the Valaardreef in Wilrijk, » says spokesperson Wouter Bruyns of the Antwerp police. « On the spot it turned out that an explosive (type Cobra) had been thrown to a home in the Valaardreef itself. The front door was seriously damaged, the adjacent building was also slightly damaged. »
The police immediately started an extensive search in the area with different teams. Immediately after the explosion, local residents saw a young guy fleeing on foot.
« The bang was followed by a huge flash of light and a lot of smoke, » says a neighbor anonymously. « I wanted to look outside what was going on and I saw a young guest, I don’t think they are older than 16 and completely dressed in black, walking around the corner. »
In the course of the night, the police were able to arrest a suspect. « His involvement in the facts is further investigated, » it sounds.
DOVO DOVO and the Judicial Lab are on site for further investigation. « The research is in full swing, » says Bruyns. « We see if there are camera images available and try to find witnesses who may have noticed something. Fortunately, nobody was injured. »
