Expert’s assessment of King Frederik Million Bills from the Treasury: just turn down a bit

Official gala art rates of King Frederik are now becoming a costly affair for the Treasury. Without tenders, without a price negotiation and without transparency, the task has landed in one particular photographer: the king’s long -time acquaintance, Steen Evald.

And the price? It puts the photographer himself.

According to a review from The letter of freedom the defense has already spent about six million kroner to buy portraits of Frederik – each with a price of DKK 4,000, including a frame.

And that’s only the beginning. According to the media, the bill can eventually land at three times as much when all embassies, ministries, offices and barracks have been given their copy.

It is King Frederik who decides himself who can take pictures of him and his family, and therefore the task has not been sent in tendering, which is otherwise required by other public contracts in the million class. In other words, the normal rule of free competition has been put out of the game – because it is a royal house.

Uffe Gardel, journalist at Extra Bladetin a comment, call the choice and cash flow an expression of a bigger problem: that the royal house’s financial dispositions occur without the democratic control apparatus that otherwise applies to the rest of the public sector.

« One thing is the silly tradition of hanging reigning monarch’s portrait here and there and everywhere – as if you fear that soldiers and officials will forget the inheritance kingdom. Another thing is that there are obviously no limits to what expenses the monarch can impose others, » he writes.
