Experiences freedom through the blues form
Music and visual artist Pjetur Stefánsson recently released a 15-song album with the band PS & Co. In a burning houseand it is available on Spotify. All texts are by Pjetur, but Pálmi Gunnarsson is a co -author of one of them. The songs are by Pjetur, but in three of them are Tryggvi Hübner and Sigurður brought his co -workers. Pjetur designed the film on the album cover, but next year will be 50 years from his first private show.
« So 40 years have passed since the release of the album In a lightweight dour. One song of the album, « Young and Rich », gained a lot of popularity and became one of the best -known rock songs of the last century and voted for one of the 10 best rock songs of the last century at RÚV, « he recalls, adding that of course the 40th anniversary is celebrated with the release of a new album.
Pjetur began studying at the School of Art and Crafts of Iceland and graduated from the Graphics Department and the New Arts Department in 1984. During the academic years he worked as a rooter with the rock band Fredrik in the summer of 1980. Two years ago he was at a turning point and then got Tryggva Hübner, Pálma Gunnarsson and Pétur Hjaltested from the band to play with him on the album in question. Sigurður Karlsson was not available, but Sigfús Örn Óttarsson was replaced. Then Jakob Frímann Magnússon, Sigurður Bjóla, Jens Hansson, Sigurður Sigurðsson and Kolbeinn Agnarsson joined the group. « It was particularly fun to work on the preparation of the album, » he says, pointing out that this is not the band Fred Dry but PS & Co. « Magnificent people. »
Comprehensive work
Recordings went well and the foundations were recorded in five hours. Sigurd Bjóla posted voices and mixed the work. « It is safe to say that with the audio mix and great instrumentalists stand after a comprehensive work, » says Pjetur, pointing specifically to the song of the room of the mind. « The only thing to mix this work requires concentration and is endurance because it is a full 14:32 minutes in length. »
The album in burning house Starts with the same blues, which Pjetur claims to have written a few years ago. « Its genesis takes place in intertwined traps in the fate of families, love, friends and friendships within the music, » he says. Few forces are stronger than anger, it breaks into daily life and call for construction. Forgiveness is the only way to work on old traumas. Then all the fate must be carefully examined. « » In a burning house « is a way to find forgiveness and experience freedom through the blues form, » he says.
