Exercise room for nursing education – altaposten.no
The Alta municipal council requests UiT – Norway’s Arctic University – to take up the dialogue with the Alta municipality with a view to putting in place an exercise room for the nursing education in Alta.
Alta municipal council is concerned about the development of the nursing study in Alta, and especially for the lack of necessary facilities such as exercise rooms with beds and rinsing rooms. These facilities are crucial to ensuring a practical and qualitatively good education – and for students to have full learning conditions at the study site in Alta.
Alta municipality has for several years had a constructive dialogue with UiT and expressed a willingness to contribute to a solution. Nevertheless, there has been no agreement in place, which creates uncertainty about UiT’s willingness to invest long -term on the educational program in Alta.
The Alta municipal council is also concerned that the lack of focus on necessary facilities in Alta will in the long run weaken both the study’s position and further development. At the last admission, there were 108 applicants for 25 study places in Alta – a clear expression that the need is great and the offer attractive. We need the expertise these students bring into the health and care services in Alta and the rest of the region.
The Alta municipal council therefore repeats with clarity: We ask UiT to take up the dialogue with Alta municipality, so that an exercise room can be established in Alta. This is a necessary investment in the quality of education, in recruitment to the health care system and in the development of Finnmark as an education region.
