« Everything looks great for S – but under the surface lurks the anxiety »

Right now things are going well for the Social Democrats, and bad for the government in public opinion. The outermost sign of it is The sudden requirements of the moderates At Magdalena Andersson’s departure, in the middle of the first day of the S-congress.

Behind the M-requirement lay the Game Inspectorate’s decision that S must fined three million kronor Because the party violated the Gaming Act with its lottery sales.

« It … is a party with problems » has plated Andersson surprised when she was reached by the news in Gothenburg, and added « Moderates » with a nervous laugh.

Magdalena Andersson’s high Confidence figures are the Social Democrats’ strongest card. The problem for S is that Magda caps and personal cults did not reach all the way forward in the 2022 election.

So what are they going to do now?

A less successful S-slogan from the past read « A better Sweden. For everyone ». In contrast to it, Magdalena promises Andersson in Congress’s line number That she does not intend to promise everything for everyone, or lightning -fast change.

A new economic Politics, profit bans in the school and the fight against gang crime are at the top of the agenda.

But first, the Social Democrats want to sore skin, and come out as a changed party.

The party leadership has done a self -critical analysis, and realized that voters no longer trust that the party knows how people are doing. Neither in terms of food prices nor the fear of being exposed to crime. A kind of « we didn’t see it coming » in new vintage.

Trade union representatives, with The ear against the industrial floor, has tried to say about it to the lead since Stefan Löfven’s time. Even then, many people warned internally about an academic approach to migration and integration that scares the LO voters to the Sweden Democrats.

Now Magdalena Andersson has appointed 11 working groups that have both done a social analysis and spit out proposals in a number of areas. Extensive change work, « Perhaps the largest since 1944 », as she herself puts it.

And before the transformation, something unexpectedly Fredrik Reinfeldt has been a model.

The repackaging of the Moderates attracted new voter groups to the bourgeoisie in a way that caused the left party’s then party secretary to write the « Reinfeldte effect », a whole book, about the phenomenon.

Now the S-leadership has carefully studied the emergence of the New Moderates, and claims to have settled with old cane horses in the same way as Borg and Reinfeldt. A new method for developing politics has been developed, which is based on « what social problems the voters experience ».

It sounds and looks a bit like an already invented wheel. What has S-politics so far been based on if not the social problems?

In addition, there is one Classic test problems within the Social Democrats.

Various political proposals are tested in their own opinion polls, and give back poor results. Voters do not turn on anything. The self -confidence to choose the path does not really seem to be there. And so you stand there, without the great reform that many in the party longed for.

Many people remember Mona Sahlin’s flat case in the 2010 election, after sailing over 50 percent in the electoral movement.

Now the Social Democrats are going into electoral movement, and on the surface everything looks great. Opinion measurements get partists to dream of a one -party government, an election result below 40 percent is painted as a disappointment.

But the anxiety lies below the surface. Many people remember Mona Sahlin’s flat case in the 2010 election, after sailing over 50 percent in the electoral movement. Then the red -green collaboration got the voters to flee the ship.
